"Oh, Illustrious and Mighty King . . . my daughter is spinning a whole field full of finest
gold thread."
Our fall season begins with a retelling of an old tale.
We have traced it in its various guises from Germany, to England, to Scotland, to an obscure tale
in the West Indies recently retold and newly illustrated by Virginia Hamilton.
We liked the rhythms of the language and the twists of the tale.
It has been adapted by Siarde Evans (who adapted our African Little Red Riding Hood),
in collaboration with the playwriting class and Sylvia Langworthy.
Siarde's sense of poetry and the rhythm of the language have culminated in a new sound of an old
familiar tale.

"... it was always said of him that he knew how to keep Christmas well if any man alive possessed
the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us."
In December we bring to our arena stage for the first time in seven years our version of the
time-honored classic A Christmas Carol.
We shall allow the language of Dickens to guide us as we use Movement, Puppet Masks and Costumes
to bring a new look to an old story.
Join us as we follow Scrooge in his journey of discovery - just in time for the Holidays.

"Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think."
What could be more cheerful than following the story of this red-haired heroine during the cold
gray months of January and February?
We shall follow as many adventures as we can as Anne comes to live in Avonlea and finds not just one
... but many kindred spirits to enrich her life.
